The Iowa Health Buyers Alliance is an association of health care customers (consumers and purchasers) working together for a patient centered health system, improved quality, wellness, and increased transparency and public disclosure.
Welcome to the Iowa Health Buyers Alliance (IHBA) Website
The Alliance is an association of purchasers who have come together to identify, evaluate, recommend, and provide access to cost-effective high performance policies, practices, providers, and products for its members. Formed in 2004, the IHBA enables public and private purchasers to jointly develop and promote the use of smart buying practices to drive quality performance for health and value ("more for the money").

The Leapfrog Group Response to the Iowa Healthcare Collaborative
The Iowa Healthcare Collaborative (IHC) is advising Iowa hospitals not to respond to the Leapfrog Group annual hospital patient safety survey.

While the initial application may be through health care providers, it is very important to involve all major stakeholders from the beginning and to create a vision with goals that encompass the full potential and use of health information technology.

IHBA Announces Consumer Health Guide Series and “Ask Your Doctor” Cards Avaliable to the Public via this Website
The Iowa Health Buyers Alliance (IHBA) uses data from various public sources to produce Iowa reports of health care provider quality, patient safety and cost/efficiency... Data sources include the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health Care Organizations, The Leapfrog Group, AHRQ, and the Dartmouth Atlas of Health Care. Various reported and guides are prepared by IHBA based upon this data. The primary audiences for these reports are consumers, patients and their families as well as public and private employers.
The Guides and Cards are made available to members, employers, unions and others for use on their intranet sites, lunch and learn sessions and in other ways.

The Wisconsin Collaborative for Healthcare Quality recently updated its hospital performance results.
